HOW TO MAKE
A 9‑1‑1 EMERGENCY CALL
Dial 9‑1‑1 from either a
rotary or a touch‑tone phone.
Speak Clearly and Stay Calm.
Tell the 9‑1‑1
telecommunicator/dispatcher, "I have an emergency. I need the
. (Police, Fire, Ambulance).
Give a clear and simple
description of the emergency.
Tell the dispatcher where
the help is needed and answer their questions. (Let the dispacther control the
conversation. They know what information is needed and the quickest way to get
help to you).
DO NOT HANG UP
until the dispatcher says to. If you have to leave the phone for your safety,
leave the receiver "off the hook" and inform the dispatcher of what your doing,
if possible.
